Busy Weekend.

Before I get to the bla bla blog, I have a couple of shout outs.  First one goes to Lyra Alarcon (sorry Ne Ne if I got the spelling wrong).  A big fat ol' welcome home to our littlest baby girl.  She was born premature, and spent the first few months at the hospital.  But thank the God's whom look over babies, she was sent packing to the comfort of her very own home, this week.  We are so happy for you guys and we all hope that you enjoy the wonders of piling up poopie diapers, and waking up with "WAAAA E WAAAA!"

Next shout out goes to Vanessa and Randy Blake.  They have brought another little girl into the world.  Sabrina, who was also born premature, but in good health.  I'm sure mommy will indulge you in pink and ruffles, and daddy will show you how to gut a fish and off road in no time.

All right,  Violet is super sicko.  She pushed out another toof, yesterday.  I know I have said it again and again but teething blows.  This time however, she has been so sick.  She had a terrible fever today, and I was worried we would be taking her to the hospital.  We did get her temperature down, and by the end of the day she was almost to her usual playful self.  I want to say thanks to my momma.  She kept me calm and was very helpful with the whole thermometer in the pooper.  I couldn't do it, even though Violet didn't even seem to notice.  She was all cuddles to day and that was the first tip off that some thing was up.  I hope she feels better tonight.

Saturday we had a little family day trip. Cloudcroft, NM's streets were swarming with people in masks, girls in tu tus, and painted faces.  Mardi Gra was in town and the spirit was alive and moving with music and all that is strange.  It was so much fun!  I have to say the thrift shops up there are friggin fantastic.  I bought one stores whole Easter display for ten dollars.  Jason and I came upon some really cool masks that we wore all day, we blended very well with all the other freaks.  Violet got a tremendous amount of beads.  When she came home she had more bling then a pimp.  No I know what you are thinking.  I didn't whip the ol' triple D's out, it was a family function and all.  But Violet did flash her belly button a few times.  Also a tip to the parents of Cloudcroft:
It is not okay, or safe or healthy for your children to be let loose into the middle of the street to retrieve candy.  Not only is it very dangerous as some times the man driving the big huge fire truck can not see your three foot two inch daughter crouched down next to his giant tire,  but it often forces me to have a heart attack! Besides it just isn't very good parade etiquette.
Here are some pictures of all the fun:
Looks like this little girl was having to much fun.
Jason and I in our masks.  Of course the colors are very fitting.
This cowboy got the whole crowd going with his booty shakin.  He started stripping on "YMCA".  Of course I started whistling cat calls :0)
Jason in his mask.  So mysterious.

All dressed up for the parade
Scary!!!
Little girls hanging out of a window.  They look like they are having a blast!

Yesterday was my first Gymkhana in about ten years (a club where we do events like barrel racing on horses).  I was so nervous and the night before was filled of visions of me biting the dust.  I thought it would be a big buck fest and I was right.  Unlike my dreams however, I managed to stay on my very young at heart horse, Max.  I'm burnt to a crisp now, and I am so sore.  It was all worth it though for my little green sixth place ribbon, that I received on one of the events.  We had so much fun, and I'm so excited for the next one.
My heart was racing when we walked up to the gate, but as soon as I got in there and I felt my horse prance with excitement I knew I was home.  Ready?  Set? GO!!!! and yes I actually say that to Max to get him pumped up.
Jessica on Tehya grumpiest horse in the south.  getting the job done.
My Aunt Squeaky on Mariah.  Pretty in pink.
Me and Max.  And yes he is sticking his tongue out at the camera.  You can see why our personalities go along so well.
Again Jessica and Tehya zooming at mach 9.

YEEE HAAAA
We are a busy family, always movin and a groovin.
Peace to you all!

To the Imperfect Mother

Violet has given me break for a little bit, and is content playing "Chef Boy-R-D" with her pots and pans on the kitchen floor, thus giving me some time to add to my blog. A nice treat since she has been an absolute terror, control freak of a child since Na Na dropped her off this morning. She is at the moment going through a bit of a crisis. Always arms out stretched to be carried 24/7, with mommy not complying. It is torcher, but the girl jams on those two little feet now, and doesn't need to be carried around all the time.

Yeah, I am now comfortable enough to let her stay the night at my MIL's casa. She is 14 months and off the boobie so it gives Daddy and I some chill time. Last night we went to our friends house and indulged in drink, good food, and great conversation. You know the kind of conversation that is some what vulgar, and makes you laugh so hard you pee yourself. The night ended with one of our friends passed out on the floor sawing logs, me with sparkly blue finger nail polish and a make over, and my friend showing me weird YouTube videos about hairy muffs (for some reason that part stands out the most). Yes indeed it was a good night.

The little get together started out with just us girls, as the boys where on a mission to buy some video game that they where desperate to play, only to get to drunk to play it at all. So with that we got talking about motherhood, and the joys of rising our very different children. At one point there was a mention about "The stigma of the perfect mother". You know what I mean. That Susy home maker type, that has cookies in the oven, her children are always clean and well dressed with bows in their hair. Doesn't own a pair of sweat pants, spotless house and always smiling. Some people are so judgmental that if you don't add up to those standards you are efficiently labeled as "The Bad Mom".

What the heck is that?! I am not going to lie. I have walked past a sink full of dishes, there have been times when violet has had a full diaper and I have said " I will get it in a little bit." I have at times wanted to throw my arms up in the air and scream out some warrior cry of anguish thinking "WHAT HAVE I GOTTEN MYSELF INTO!" Violet has been taken in public wearing mismatched clothing because I have held out on doing laundry. It is not every day that I feel like I am in the super mom kind of mood, I love being on my feet all day, and have time to sing to the birds so the perch on my shoulders like I'm Snow White.

The perfect mother is a fairy tale, conceived of 50's television shows. And to make matters worse modern television depicts not only mothers efficient at every thing but now SEXY!!!??? You mean you want me to wear a black strapless with a diamond necklace and stilettos and change diapers! I DON'T THINK SO!

So this blog is dedicated to Denise, Ducky, and Crystal. To "Real Life Perfect Mothers". Who are not ashamed to adorn their PJ's and band shirts. Who are not on an ever long quest to change their bodies to match up to some one Else's depiction of beauty. Who don't have a problem serving their children hot dogs and mac-n-cheese. You are my perfect mother peers. Hoo Raw to the imperfect mothers!!!!

A day at the zoo

So first off I have to welcome my good friend, Duck, to blogger. If you all want to read some rude, tood, and crude, check her out at http://sewduckysew.blogspot.com/. She is a mama on a mission to expand her sewing collection, and tell you about her wild child! Follow her for some good times.

Now, for today's adventures. We found Violets real family at the zoo, today. She fit right in with the monkey exhibit, and had a full conversation with a black little monkey. Jason and I had no clue what they were discussing with the whole oo oo aa aa. But we put it together that the monkey was explaining to violet how to remove her diaper and fling poo.

We pushed her around in a safari Jeep wagon, and you could tell by the smug little smile on her face, that she thought she was the shiz nitt. I loved how she pointed out all the birds and went into a zombie like state in the underground sea lion exhibit. Even though she had a look of panic on her face, I know in her scared little heart that she loved the carousel. If only to be encouraged by her older cousin Desi, that it was really fun.

violet may become a lion tamer, as she showed no fear to the beasts in their exhibits. She pushed herself as close as she could over the elephants wall, with fingers outstretch in amazement. That's my little girl animal extraordinaire. If any man wants her when she gets older, he better swing in on a vine saying "Me Tarzan You Jane".

Jason's cousin kept saying "I love how alert she is, she is so inquisitive." My little girl, baby genius. We had a blast today with our family, daring one of our little cousins to suck the head juice out of a crawdad. GROSS!

So that was our day today. Now time to kick the feet up and chill.
love ya guys.

Where is my Brain

Alright, I know you get a case of forgetfulness when you get pregnant. But does your memory ever come back. I swear, I feel like Bullwinkle some times, well, most of the time. People say "write a list", shoot I forget where I would put it.
I used to have a brain as sharp as a Vikings battle ax. I could have rocked your world at the children's game "Memory". I could remember authors, quotes, people. They say you become more stupid when you smoke. Ha even then, I had straight A's. Now I don't even know what day it is, can't remember what I did yesterday, and loose every damn thing. I'm an avid reader, but now I find myself back stepping chapters to remember what happened a few pages before.
I guess what brought this forgetful frenzy on, is the misplacement of my beloved planner/ wallet. So what if the calender in the planner was two years old, and scribbled with all my doctors appointments from being pregnant. I loved that thing. Okay, okay, more like I loved the stuff in it. Like my ID, my social security cards, violets shot records, bank cards, receipts, and eye glass prescriptions. It was pretty much my portable filing cabinet.
I stayed up fuming at myself all night, and didn't entirely wake up in the most loveliest mood this morning. More like a wild animal. I started thinking. All those things I can get back. Yes, it is going to take some time, and lots of hours standing in lines with stinky people all as pissed off as I am at the MVD asshole that can't get their butts in gear. So I realized it is just going to be an issue of digging up some patience (though I wish I could just buy some),So what was I so upset about.
Then it hit me like a pigeon hitting the windshield. I'm pissed off at myself! I mean gosh, leaving it on top of the van roof. Yup, that's right. And you know the messed up part of it. My mom actually said as she saw me set it up there, "Don't forget your wallet." I still blame her for making me loose my train of thought, You know the one where I was repeating in my head "Don't forget my wallet."
I was mad that not even a month ago, I had left it in a restaurant only to argue with the receptionist that I didn't have an ID to show proof that it was mine because my ID was in the wallet. I was mad at all the times I forgot my grocery list at home, struggle to remember what I needed at the store, only to enter my vehicle and see the damn list on the seat. I was mad at all the times I have done laundry and have lost my clothes from the short trip to the bedroom from the laundry room. I still can't find my damn yoga pants. I loved not doing yoga in those pants!
One of my mommy friends told me "your brain shrinks when you have kids. Don't worry though it goes back to normal after a few years." Well, I did some research. I didn't find and science behind it, but it does seem to be a common flaw among mothers. I guess as long as I remember to change the babies diapers, feed her, and wipe front to back, I'm in the clear. BUT DAMN!!!! Will my brain ever be "my brain" again.

"Concerning culture as a process, one would say that it means learning a great many things and then forgetting them; and the forgetting is as necessary as the learning" ~Albert J. Nock

Exploding Boobies!!

My boobies hurt! my boobies hurt! MY BOOBIES HURT!. Violet has been officially off the chee chee for two days now, and I can feel the milk reaching maximum levels of explosion. mammary overload emanate! Every on prepare for evacuation! The damns are breaking and a massive flood of milky destruction is coming for your homes. count down in T minus 10...9...8...F the countdown! this shiz nitt hurts!

Some one give me the magic pill that will make my boobies dispel all this hellish pain. I know you guys don't need details...but I'm am doing this for all those breast feeding mommies who will feel the pain of weaning. I feel like my nipples are in vice grips and my boobies are carring around ROCKS! It hurts to sleep it hurts to carry the baby it just plain hurts. Now I am not one for complaining but damn my knockers are knocking me out!

I think the gods, or saints, or protectors of children really feel for the babies that are being weaned. they view it as suffering for the child who doesn't understand why mommy refuses to give in to their screams of want for the boob. Well take comfort sweet little violet in the fact that mommy is also suffering. In fact, it seems that violet has adjusted well to weaning, and has already found comfort in her bottle for sleepy time. How unfair! How long will this last for mommy!

If I hear "Use ice packs" one more time I'm going to lobotomize myself through my nose holes. It is winter fool!!! It is already cold in this house and the last thing I need to do is freeze the milk in my chest so that it is slushie-fied and even heavier. For those that don't know While breast feeding I was a DDD. Now I feel like I'm carring around 50 pound triple x's! do they even make bras that big!

Disclaimer: Boys avert your eyes to this paragraph...

My pap is next week (told you) and if they think they are touching these bad boys to check for lumps, doctor beware fists will be flying if this pain isn't gone by then. Aint no one touching these mountains unless they have a shot of Demerol in my arm first.

Evil engorgement! thank you for the beautifully round high and tight boobs, that I will miss when i have expelled this milk. However f*ing Ouch man!

So yeah that's my life right now. I think you get the point.

Stay at Home or Work it???

Whats with this whole “Mortal Kombat” fiasco called “stay at home mom VS working mom” ? Here we go folks soccor mom in this corner and in this corner CEO business woman. Weapons include a briefcase, a mop, a printer, and a vacuum. If MTVs “Celebrity Death Match” (remember that show) didn't make an episode of this, they missed out on some blood money. WACK briefcase to the face! Mop to the back of the knees! Hair tangled in a dyson and ink in the eyes.
So first off, yes, I am a "stay at home mom". No I do not eat bon bons all day. I am not an under achiever, and I am not a depressed psycho. Personally, I think my day is just as busy as any "working mom". I don't get paid for my job, and I rarely get coffee breaks. Violet's one hour nap is my break, and often times it is spent doing laundry or odd jobs around the house. One thing That I am jealous about "working moms" is their social life. I am often around my mom but she is far from an adult conversation. Sorry mom, those that know her understand. My days are filled with goo goo ga ga, ha, and waaaaaa. Oh, what I would do for a conversation that didn't end in poop, throw up, druel, or a tantrum. Now I would not change my situation at all. When I had my daughter I decided that I wanted to raise my daughter, I wanted to teach her as much as her noggin could contain, and I wanted to see all her “firsts”. I love the bonding that I have acquired with my daughter. And yes even though the stinky toxic diapers are endless I love that too.
SO, I have been doing some research ( you see stay at home moms can even do research) about the subject and have asked a couple of my friends what are some of there most despised conceptions about the whole mama drama. So first the "working mom" side.
It seems that a common link between "working moms" Is that stay at home moms are judgmental of them (me judgmental...NEVER). That there is a sense of "you aren't even watching your kids, why did you decide to have them in the first place" My good friend duck (and no she is not an imaginary duck that quacks to me in my "stay at home mom head") wrote me, she said.
"I hate that people think that working moms like my self are neglectful as parents that were too wrapped up in our work lives to care for or look after our own lil ones. I don't take for granted the help that I have, but sometimes I wish I was a stay at home mommy. with the way this world works I don't think I'll ever be able to stay at home with the kiddo."
Well, if I know my Duck, and I do. She is an awesome mom and doesn't take for granted any minute she has to spend with her little boy. Economically it just isn't possible for some families.
My aunt wrote also. Her kids are all old and grown and well....They are my cousins so I will be nice. LOL wink wink. But they better stay on my good side, i can always change this thing.
"All I would ever hear was, "Well, If it was my kid"..... blah blah blah.... So many said that if I would have been a stay at home mom, he would be different... I do not believe that... I honestly do not believe that I could have done anything different.... We went down every avenue that we could and yet, he still did his own thing... Some people and kids are just that way.... You should never assume the parenting skills of someone by the kid alone.... I have 2 wonderful kids and I would die for them.... I have given them all of me and and forever will.... One just took Little longer to figure things out....LOL.... "
Well said Auntie Squeaky! Every one is different, and as long as you tried to your full extent as a parent then you did your job as a parent. Even if you are weird too lol.
As for me I think stay at home moms feel they need credit to. That they are just as busy as any working mom and contribute just as much to society as any one else. we are creative, teachers, nurses, and butt wipers. I may have not chosen a path that takes me to a nine to fiver but my path is just as valuable as any briefcase totting phone answering mom. I just carry a diaper bag around like a purse and answer fake cell phones only to hear baby babbling about how she threw a whole roll of TP in the toilet. A life out side of home some times seems not possible. Some one I know once said "I feel like I'm in a prison". Then I realize There are no bars on the doors, no chief wiggum telling me what to do. I make things how I want to make them. If I tell my self that scrapping smashed cheese out of the tile grout for the 5th time today is fun. Then it is fun DAMN IT! lol now I am making stay at home moms sound crazy.
So mommas lets make a vow.
"I as a mother promise not to judge other mothers on their work choices." I mean seriously "can't we all just get along?" We are all just as crazy as the next mom and we all have one thing in common. GET THE BABY IN BED SO I CAN CHECK MY EMAIL. I'm just kidding....or am I? We all love our children the best we can. A child can look at a working mom and say "wow if momma could be a working mom and take care of me maybe I can be superman/ superwoman" And if my daughter looks at me one day and says "Wow if mom can handle me all day then maybe I can be Joan of Arc, and be as crazy as she is". You get the picture.

Breast Feeding Blues

It is time, the big W has befallen my little girl and I. That's right, the weaning begins. I have made the decision, and though I have met much criticism from my mother, I will prevail. Violet is one years old now, and eats like “Shrek”. I think that every thing will be fine....
Now, I came to finalizing my decision with much trepidation. There are so many pros and cons from this situation. As I am clicking away at this blog, I am hoping and praying that some of you will leave me some advice, and support as I move forward on this mission of being a good mother.
I get somber at the thought of breaking that physical and emotional bond that I have had with my little booger for the past twelve months. That knowing that my life force nourishes her life and well being will be gone for ever. After much research I realize that I can nourish her in other ways. like teaching her all the skills that can help her live successfully. I can read to her and still sit with her as she is enjoying one of her meals. I know I still need my mother at times, and that violet will always need me. Even though I refuse the boob, she will still love me.
I never thought I would be on the Internet spilling the beans about my Mellon's ;0) But “engorgement” has been both my friend and enemy. Oh the pain of searing boob milk exploding through my mamories, waking me in the middle of the night. Not nice at all. I will not lie, however, I have taken advantage of the no need to wear a push up bra. In fact i have asked violet to cry on one or more occasion to get a temporary boob lift. But boobs after babies will have to be on another blog.
Recently heard a engorgement pain problem solver. I guess I`m supposed to put cabbage leaves on my nipples. I don't know how or why it works, but I'm not planning on making Cole slaw out of these pineapples. Do you have any ideas?
What makes this worse is that Violet continues to teeth. He screams of pain are only comforted by chee chee. I hope it passes soon.
Well, that's it for know. Wish me luck folks, it is going to be a long week. I will keep you all updated as much as possible. And again please feel free to leave some advice.
sweet dreams

Christmas joy

Here comes 2011. I know you are tired off hearing "oh my gosh, I cant believe how fast this year has gone by" and bla bla bla. But dang it. IT,S TRUE!!

So enough of that. Christmas has come and gone, and I have stored it into my memory vault of a brain. Violet has gotten quite a collection of toys, that I now find my self stumbling on every day. She is very proficient in the art of destroying any clean room, and a master at booby trapping the floor with pointy little things. OUCH! Damn those farm animal rolly thingys. Among her many favorites, [and I am not over exaggerating when I say many] she seems to enjoy her rocking horse, a stew pot, and a zombie doll. What can I say Santa has very odd tastes.
If her toys suggest anything about her future roll in life it would say she is destined to fight the zombie Apocalypse, on a horse and i don't know ... feed the homeless. wow my daughter...heroin of the new world, animal lover, restorer of humanity. yeah its destiny.
okay back on track. So my favorite thing about Christmas this year was Santa greeting my from his long night at work. Mind you this was a very tattooed, very pierced, very tall Santa [If you haven't guessed I'M talking about my man Jason]. He was very adamant about leaving his daughters presents out for him to place under the plastic Christmas tree [we got class lol]. Violet must have heard sleigh bells ringing [but I think the sleigh was bumping some cradle of filth (band)] because she woke up. Being as I`m the nicest sweetest mother I let her stay up and help daddy play Santa's little helper. She watched as daddy forced over frosted Christmas cookies that were polluted with twizzlers, coconut, sour things, and Reese's pieces for eyes. She helped place bright boxes under the tree, and gave a few of her toys a test ride.
After we downed a rather large glass of brandy that we flavored with egg nog we crawled into bed. I lovingly asked Jason ″are you drunk?” to which he replied

"no".

I said, "Well, I am" with a grin.

"Okay yeah, I guess I am too". Lol what a man has to have his wife say she got tipsy before he will admit it.

No we are ready to take on New years, though violet is going to have to indulge in sparkling cider rather than champagne. We already had one aunt passed out on christmas. The last thing we need is a baby stumbling around drunk saying "Where am I? What planet are we on?" :0)
